Open Position for Skagit Fire District 17 (Guemes Island) Fire Commissioner #2 The Commissioners (total of 3):

Determine the levels of service and establish goals; determine type and level of funding, approve budget, tax levies; establish policies and approve operational procedures; employ key personnel; guide strategic planning and represent the district to the public.

Commissioners are expected to: attend the meetings; educate themselves to understand the history, the pertinent governing laws; actively participate; understand and comply with ethics laws; act professionally; avoid micromanaging staff; represent constituents and avoid special interests; maintain confidentiality; be a resident of Guemes Island.
